With 50 years’ experience on the frontline of mental health service delivery, RFQ has begun consolidating knowledge, sharing learnings and exploring new frontiers through research.

RFQ has begun a collaborative partnership journey with prominent individuals, companies and educational institutions. Our goal is to develop a suite of research which explores the role of wellbeing in the development of recovery-oriented mental health services, alongside other upcoming projects.
“Never has there been a greater need for investment in robust research around understanding and supporting the wellbeing needs of our clients. Wellbeing means different things to different people; it’s about determining what each individual needs to thrive and live a meaningful, fulfilling life. There is no ‘one size fits all’.”
Our Wellbeing Literacy program, created in partnership with the University of Melbourne’s Centre for Wellbeing Science, empowers staff to leverage tools and knowledge to prioritise wellbeing in their own lives and in their work with clients. This program has since been tailored to better meet the needs of our First Nation’s clients.
Conducted in partnership with the University of Southern Queensland, this program explores music as a wellbeing practice. Musical Care uses everyday musical activities – such as group singing, collaborative songwriting, music listening, and interactive music-making – to support wellbeing and connection. Through Musical Care, participants develop a practical understanding of the immense power of music listening, making, writing, and singing.
In partnership with Griffith University, the movement study provides a six-month funded gym program with an exercise physiologist to improve physical health and document the impacts on participants with lived experience of mental health challenges.
In partnership with The University of Sydney and Dr. Alyssa Milton, RFQ is collaborating with researchers on a tool to support the physical health of people experiencing psychosis-related conditions.

This is a natural next step for RFQ in consolidating knowledge and sharing learnings. With robust research informing the development of life-changing programs and services, we aim to support people to thrive in their own lives.
